Are we trying to do it in our own strength, or are we surrendered to and relying on God’s?
We all know Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” but we often forget that it says THROUGH Christ, meaning we must go through Christ in order to experience His strength.
In a “self” obsessed world that constantly points to finding worth in what we can do in our own strength and getting all the glory for it, we must guard our hearts.
No matter who you are, what you do or how good you are at doing it, it will never be enough for the world. And friend, without God, everything in the world will never be enough for you. It’s empty, I promise.
There’s a temptation that sneaks up on all of us if we aren’t watchful, and it will deceive us into believing we can successfully fulfill the God-given call and purpose for our lives in our own strength. That’s a lie. Anything we can do without God is something that will ultimately leave us unfulfilled, lost, hurting and broken.
So, what does it mean to rely on God’s strength? It means we prayerfully and intentionally stay connected to Him as the vine. We seek Him daily, we read His Word and we take our hands off of our current situation and give it to God.
Heart check:
Does it align with God’s Word?
Have I prayed about it?
Is my identity attached to the outcome?
Do I have peace?
When we rely on God’s strength, it comes with peace. Regardless of the outcome, doing it God’s way is the best way. And if God is for us, who can be against us?
